Happy 2025!! Like the rest of the world, I’ve spent the last few weeks thinking and planning how I’d like my year to go. I have several new adventures and dreams for 2025, and I’d love to share them with you!
2025 goals
- Make fan art – so many amazing things exist and I want to appreciate them! Full disclosure, the majority of my fan art is traced from screenshots of my favorite movies and shows. It just saves me the time and frustration while allowing me to appreciate my favorite things : )
- Finish writing my first novel! ICYMI, I spent the month of November writing the first 50,000 words of a novel (title TBA). It’s a Narnia-meets-ATLA, “noblebright epic fantasy” story that has gone from just-for-fun short story to full on trilogy. I really want to finish the first draft in 2025!!
- Do my best to finish what I start – I have a lot that I’d like to do this year, and my underlying goal is to actually stick with the things that I start… like the aforementioned novel ^.^
- Make lots of podcasts – My podcast, which is available on Spotify, had waaaaaay more traffic and engagement than any other platform, so I’d like to devote a lot more time to it this year.
Projects & new adventures
- I’ve got a few different series going this year, including a Disney princess-inspired devotional series, a Hunger Games-inspired devotional series, and the ongoing Gospel According To series! All of these, along with some other random things, will be available on my website and podcast
- Because writing a novel wasn’t enough, I’m also writing TWELVE short stories inspired by the idea of Disney princesses living in Panem (from the Hunger Games series). Did I mention these will all be available for FREE to my email subscribers?! Feel free to forward this email if you or someone you know loves Disney or Hunger Games 😉
- There’s something that’s DEFINITELY happening coming up really soon! I’m getting PUBLISHED! Alongside six other authors, my story “Heart of the Sun” will be releasing in the Caught in the Flames charity anthology on March 4th. I’M SO EXCITED!!! More details below!
More about the anthology!!
As I’ve mentioned a few times at this point, I’M GETTING PUBLISHED!! And not just to the five people who know me in real life! The anthology I submitted to last May is releasing on March 4th, 2025. It includes:
- a wide variety of writing styles and genres, from sci-fi to high fantasy
- clean fiction with fire magic of all kinds
- an anthology whose proceeds will go to a good cause, in this case, the World Wildlife Fund
All of the other writers in this anthology have already completed and published at least one book, and there are some really creative ideas around the theme of fire power and magic. I’m gonna be talking up all the other writers over the next couple months on instagram, so stay tuned for that! I’m also getting INTERVIEWED as an author on February 22nd, so save the date if you’d like to join ^.^
Real Life is a thing too, you know?
Some Real Life things:
- I’m starting grad school in one week! It’s gonna be crazy! I have already started reverting to some of my old habits, like rearranging my room and eating random things at random times XD. For real tho, I am looking forward to re-engaging the scholarly side of my brain 🙂
- Speaking of being engaged… I’m counting down the days until 7/11/2025, when KayDrew officially becomes canon! We’ve been on a journey of figuring out the details, which is crazy! But I’m loving the process so far, especially dreaming about how to decorate our future living space! And we found the most amazing venue at a lake away from the city for a really amazing price 🤩
- Something fun: I got to see Moana 2 on the big screen yesterday and it was SO AMAZING!! It was everything I hoped for from a sequel! So yeah that made my heart super happy 🙂
Conclusion
