It’s been a week and a day since 2026 began, and we’re almost done picking apart Philippians 4:8, one word at a time.
Today’s word is “praiseworthy,” which in a couple of different passages translates to “to the praise of His glory” or “to the glory and praise of God.” The point is that everything good and worthwhile in our lives is a result of God’s grace and goodness, and its or job as believers to give Him the praise He is worthy of/deserves

.
Other passages refer to humans being praised not for their outward obedience to the Law, but for their genuine heart-change and devotion to God (Romans 2:29). Whenever we do something praiseworthy, it’s a result of our image-bearer status; created to reflect our Creator, humans naturally gravitate towards things that are decent, lovely, beautiful, noble, etc

What have you seen, in God’s creation or humans’, that makes you want to praise Him? Currently I’m loving the way Anya from the anime Spy x Family is so adoring of her adoptive parents’ awesomeness and so devoted to their mission. It makes me want to be that adoring of God’s character, and that eager to help build the Kingdom here on earth.
Tomorrow’s the last day of this little series!
Happy January!
