Today is day two of the new year and day two of breaking apart and meditating on Philippians 4:8, one word at a time!
Today’s word is Honorable, which may also be translated as “noble,” depending on your translation of choice. The main idea I got from this word, and the key verse I focused on (Romans 12:17-18), was that of having character traits that are seen as honorable and respectable, regardless of whether the people around you believe or not. Here’s the full definition:

In Romans 12, and in 2 Corinthians 8:21, Paul is looking to preserve his reputation not because it is the foundation of his identity or self-worth (see Galatians 1:10), but because his conduct reflects back on Christ and His church.
Here’s a key verse for today’s word:

So when I’m looking at fan art of my favorite media or reading my favorite series for the 489302th time, am I doing so in a way that others will view as decent or honorable? When I talk about the book I’m currently reading, am I looking for ways to point out the threads of grace I’ve found in its story? These are things I’m thinking about today.
Happy January!
