It’s the first week of November, and by some miracle the leaves in my state are still colorful. The weather’s a little warmer this week too, and my school has hosted two international events on the same day! Que lo Kayslee has some new songs this week, inspired by the uncommonly warm weather and music from around the world. Enjoy!
“Rihaa” by Arijit Singh and Shloke Lal
I discovered this song based on a recommendation by Manoj Mehra at Believe Strong. Although it is originally in Bengali and Hindi, the English translation is so poetic, and the music is stunningly beautiful. Its instrumental track includes several instruments that I would associate with music from India. I listened to this song on repeat for almost three hours while I was writing this blog post, and I still haven’t gotten tired of it yet. It’s that beautiful!
“Loco Pero Feliz” by Pirulo y la Tribu
Another song that isn’t in English, yay! This song is in Spanish, and it talks about being “a little crazy, but happy” and the singer doing things his own way. I appreciate the song’s classic Latino character and the Luna Lovegood feel of the lyrics.
“Empire State of Mind (broken down)” by Alicia Keys
A classic Alicia Keys song, but this version is more chill and acoustic in nature (and also not explicit). I heard the original in my school’s cafeteria the other day, and enjoyed listening to this version of it. I was also inspired to listen to the rest of the album, which is also beautiful.
“Believe” by Mumford and Sons
This song was also recommended by a fellow blogger, Eclectic Music Lover. This song fits into the category of Songs I’ve Heard Before, But Didn’t Google Until Now, and I’m glad I know it exists now because it’s a pretty great song. Eclectic Music Lover talks about it in more detail and more skillfully than I can, so I’ll just agree with them that the electric guitar is epic and the hints of piano are excellent as well. “I don’t even know if I believe everything you’re trying to say to me, so open up my eyes, tell me I’m alive.”
“Together” by Sia
Spotify recommended this song to me by playing it on shuffle from a different playlist. It’s featured on a commercial that came out earlier this year, so you’re welcome for solving the “what’s that song” problem lol. I enjoy this song for its uplifting lyrics and subtly clever lyrics, which include a reference to Stevie Wonder. The song itself fits solidly into the mainstream pop music category, but hey, it’s popular for a reason.
“Secret Tunnel” by CJ Music
To wrap up this playlist, here’s a hint of my newest fandom, Avatar: the Last Airbender. I’ve started watching the show on Netflix this week, and I hit this episode last night. The episode was wonderful, and this song is so adorable and goofy and fun… Listen to this song, and I guarantee you’ll be yelling “SECRET TUNNEL! SECRET TUNNEL! THROUGH THE MOUNTAIN!!” at random moments just like I have been. You can’t help but grin to this song, and I think we could all use a little of that right now.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s Secret Tunnel Shuffle. If you did, please share, and I’d love to hear about the songs you enjoy as well : ).
Happy weekend!
Thank you for featuring ‘Rihaa’ song in your blog post. I am glad you like it so much.
