Happy Sunday lovely humans. This week’s Song Lyric Sunday prompt is “making love” (interpret that as you will, I prefer the Romantic-era version which simply means conversing flirtatiously), and to go with it I’ve chosen the coziest, most aesthetic song I’ve discovered recently: “Best Part” by H.E.R. and Daniel Caesar. Enjoy!
Why I chose this song
As a single human with no desire to think about making love in its modern context, my musical taste tends not to include this particular subject matter (no judgement if yours does, promise 😸). As such, this song is just the right amount of romantic for me, with its declarations of love and mild insinuations to acting on said feelings of attraction and desire.
I also can’t help but compare some of the lyrics to worship, specifically when the singers describe their loved one as everything they need to get through life. “I just wanna see how beautiful you are…” reminds me of the eternal pleasure of seeking the Lord with everything I have, because all the human feels are ultimately a mirror of Him. “
“You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11 ESV
Please note that bringing God into this isn’t meant to shame anyone who finds pleasure in human love; just my own way of joining in on this prompt (and also it’s just my thing at this point😊).

You’re the Tylenol I take when my head hurts
You’re the sunshine on my life”

I can’t see any like buttons on your site, but I think we both were on the same page with preferring “making love” to describe what is supposed to be a gift.
Yes! Feels much more poetic and romantic to say it that way 😸
Beautiful song! I love the acoustic feel!
