Hello, friends, and welcome to another book-related post! I’ve recently discovered the genre of superhero-stories-in-novel-form, and I’ve really been enjoying it. In fac, I think it may be one of my new favorites! Here’s a list of some of the best Superhero Books I’ve read or plan to read soon, and what I thought of them. Enjoy!
Black Canary
Black Canary: Breaking Silence by Alexandra Monir. I read this book at the beginning of November and absolutely loved it! This one has a very dystopian feel to it, with the premise that Batman and his comrades have all died of old age or been killed, and Gotham City has been taken over by the patriarchal and very oppressive Owl Council. Super cool!
Black Widow
The net series that I read features Black Widow, or Natasha Romanoff, and some long-lost relatives… I won’t spoil it but highly recommend this series! Each chapter has excerpts from her interviews with Coulson and other authorities within Shield and the government which is cool. I also LOVED the way that the multiple points of view in each book were written.
Black Panther
Okoye To the People
Okoye: To the People by Ibi Zoboi. I am still currently reading this one. So far, I appreciate the struggles that the main character has with wanting to use Wakanda’s resources to help under-served communities. I also appreciated the look into the Dora Milaje and the King of Wakanda.
Shuri: the Missing
Suri: The Vanished by Nic Stone. This one will likely be next on my Superhero Books list, as it also features the people of Wakanda. I know that Suri is one of the people in the Black Panther movies who wants to use Wakanda’s resources to benefit the world, and I’m curious to see how her point of view will be developed. Also, the internet mems have decreed that she and Peter Parker would be the best of friends, and I am inclined to agree.
Antman
Next is Ant-man: Natural Enemy by Jason Starr. I haven’t read that much into this one’s storyline, but the Ant-Man movies have an entertaining storyline and characters, so this should be a good read as well. The premise: Scott’s criminal past is catching up with him…
Thanos
The final item on this Superhero Books list is Thanos: Titan Consumed by Barry Lyga. This book is the origin story of Thanos, the ultimate Archnemesis of the Avengers storyline. I’m highly intrigued by this, and am looking forward to reading it.
Conclusion: Superhero Books List
I hope you’ve enjoyed this superhero book recommendations list/mini review. I would love to know: Have you ever read a book in this genre? What should I explore next?
Happy reading!
