Bible Journal the Rainbow with Me – Purple

Happy Friday, my friends, and welcome to the final installment of the Bible Journal the Rainbow with me series! Inspired by the Illustrated Faith collection by the same name, this series has also given me the opportunity to revisit a project/study I created back in February. Hope you enjoy!

Bible journal the Rainbow – Purple

Illustrated Faith describes purple in this way:

Purple is used for decorations, dye, linens, and clothing, all showing status or significance. It symbolizes kings, royalty, and the priesthood.

My secular source says this about the color purple:

The color of spirituality and imagination. Purple inspires us to divulge our innermost thoughts, which encourages spiritual growth. It is often associated with royalty and luxury, mystery and magic, and creativity.

Scripture-based sources describe purple in this way:

Purple dyes were the most expensive and highly treasured in ancient times. Purple became the official color of Aaron’s priestly garments, and it represents royalty, priesthood, and wealth.

And now, presenting today’s Bible journaling process!

Bible journal the rainbow – purple

Today’s Bible journal the rainbow process starts with the tried-and-true purple acrylic paint background. I chose Isaiah 62 for today’s page because it talks about “garments of salvation” and a “robe of righteousness” for redeemed Israel. I love the imagery of this passage so much and can’t wait to look into it further! It almost makes me think of the prodigal son and his father putting a ring on his finger and a robe around his shoulders, accepting him back as one of the family (Luke 15). So good!

The next step is to letter out the main idea of what I learned from studying the meaning of the color purple in the Bible. I used a Tombow dual brush pen and a gold-shadow Jelly Roll pen to outline. It looks so pretty!!

To finish out this page, I used a set of Pipsticks stickers with lots of purple things. I love the little jewels with holographic details! Now every time I look back on this page, all the everyday purple items I see will be a reminder of this beautiful symbolism.

The meanings of purple described in this study so far remind me SO MUCH of the Ambassador persona from my “Wings” study earlier this year. I love the idea of a prodigal son (or daughter) coming back to the Father and receiving not only His love and acceptance, but also a purpose and mission to share with the world. It’s so, so good!!

You can find out more about being an Ambassador for Christ here : )

I hope you’ve enjoyed this Bible journal the rainbow purple post. What does purple make you think of? I’d love to know!

Happy journaling!
