Bible Journaling Acrylic Galaxy & Beautiful Song Lyrics

Happy Wednesday, friends! This week I’m bringing you another Bible journaling tutorial. I tried out painting a galaxy with acrylic paints, and even dared to use Sharpie! Hope you enjoy this Bible journaling acrylic galaxy โ˜บ

Supplies: Bible, Acrylic Paints, Sharpie

This page was created using the stash of craft-grade acrylic paints which I already have (and am currently trying to use up), a couple of brushes, and a silver metallic Sharpie.

This page was inspired by the cover art of Imagine Dragons’ “Next To Me,” which I find absolutely stunning (the song and the artwork lol). You can read more about the song here ;).

Step One: center pink area

The first step in creating this acrylic galaxy was to put a bright pink, vaguely circular area in the center. I used a neon pink and heather purple to accomplish this.

Step Two: purples and blues

The next step in the process was to add some color variation. I used some back-and-forth swirling brush strokes with shades of blue and purple surrounding the pink area in the center.

Step Three: fade to black

Once the background colors were down on the page, I added black over the top to solidify the idea of the night sky. I let the black completely cover over the colors on the edges, and attempted to blend it in as I approached the center. I wanted the center of the galaxy to remain bright, contrasting with the darkness around the edges.

Step Four: all the stars!!!

This was my favorite step in the galaxy-painting process: adding stars!! I took some white acrylic paint and a roundish paintbrush. Then I took the slightly wet paintbrush, dipped it in the paint, and flicked it with my finger to create the stars. So satisfying!! Just be careful if you decide to try this not to leave anything fragile or valuable in the background, as the paint does tend to go everywhere.

Step Five: add the song lyrics

The final step in this process is to add the lyrics. I journaled the verses in Ephesians 2 in my Message Canvas Bible, which reminded me of the lyrics from Imagine Dragons’ “Next to Me.” The lyrics I wrote were “Oh, I always let you down… I’m far from good, it’s true, but still I find you next to me.”

The verses from this chapter that stood out the most to me were “We all did it, all of us doing what we felt like doing, when we felt like doing it, all of us in the same boat. It’s a wonder God didn’t lose his temper and do away with the whole lot of us. Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, he embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ.” Amen!!

I was a little nervous using Sharpie on the Bible paper, but it didn’t bleed through! And it looks sooooo pretty ๐Ÿคฉโœจ

Conclusion
