An Ecstatic Erin Condren Spanish Planner Review + My Latest Adventure

erin condren spanish planner

Happy Monday, friends! Today’s post is a review of the Erin Condren 12-Month Vertical LifePlanner, Spanish Edition. Whether you’re a native speaker or someone who’s aiming to practice Spanish on a daily basis, this beautifully designed planner is an excellent choice to get organized and prepare for your next adventure. I’ll also give you a glimpse of what my life in Mexico City will be like this semester and what classes I’ll be taking at the university there. Enjoy!

Intro: Erin Condren Spanish LifePlanner

The planner being reviewed today is the Erin Condren Spanish Planner. Shockingly, these planners usually start at about $60, although the Academic Planner starts at only $38. Even then, that’s way out of my price range, and although I have admired the Erin Condren planners for a few years now, I never would have been able to afford this one had it not been steeply discounted. That being said, if you have the money (or the generous relatives), this planner is definitely worth the investment. It is so beautiful!!

And now, without further ado, let’s get on to the actual review 😺

Cover and Design: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This planner receives five glowing gold stars for its beautiful cover and design.

  • I was able to personalize the front cover with colors of my choice and two lines of text (my name in Spanish and the name of the university I’m attending in Mexico City) for no additional cost. This means that you won’t be able to find the exact same planner on the Erin Condren website– it’s 100% unique to me. So cool!
  • If you’re wondering why I picked the colors I did– the background (lavender) is my all-time favorite, the vermillion orange is one of the colors of Anahuac (the university I’m attending this fall), and the pink color ties them together nicely.

So many beautiful colors…

Moving to the inside of this planner, I am amazed at the beautifully detailed designs throughout, starting with the inside of the front cover. Such beautiful florals!

  • The very first page of the planner is a vellum sheet with EC’s trademark wavy colorful lines, followed by a title page with space to write in your name.
  • Every month has its own color, with a richly colored divider page, sophisticated monthly spread, a dashboard page, and matching headers on each weekly page for that month. Like most planners who choose this style of planner, I tend to cover up the headers as I plan each week, but they are still nice to have.

Quality and Functionality: 🌟🌟🌟🌟⭐

This planner gets the equivalent of four and a half stars for quality and functionality.

  • To start with, the paper is absolutely beautiful. Most of my pens don’t bleed through at all, although I have seen some shadowing with my Fudenosuke brush pens at times.
  • Each week has a two-page spread. Every day is split into three columns and a notes section on the left side. The week starts on Monday, with three days on the left page and four on the right.
  • The three-box layout can be used in various ways; you can adjust the size of each section according to your needs. I’ve used the three columns for morning, afternoon, and evening, or put a verse of the day, a few highlights, and a to-do list. The possibilities are endless!
  • Another note about the weekly layout: many planners will use the bottom two inches or so for decoration. In this planner, however, because each day has a lined, lightly colored section at the bottom, it is a bit more difficult to cover this without using white-out. A minor inconvenience, but still worth mentioning.
  • The planner also includes an overview of 2021 at the beginning and an overview of 2022 at the end. I haven’t had much occasion to use these, but they could be useful. There are a handful of notes pages and a contacts page in the back, as well as three pages of stickers and a handy pocket. As you can see, I haven’t used many of the stickers, but the pocket has served me well. And it is BEAUTIFUL!
  • Final note on functionality: the spiral binding of this planner is… rather large. This is by design. After a full year of covering each week with washi tape and stickers, the pages become much thicker, so the large spiral binding is necessary. Although it is somewhat difficult to fit in my bag alongside the 7483978549302 other books and things, I have deemed it a worthy sacrifice.

Erin Condren Spanish Planner: The good, the bad, and the absolutely stunning

I cannot say enough good things about this planner! Every inch of it says luxury, perhaps because of its traditional price point, but also because of the beautiful colors and high-quality design. Here is a short list of all the pros and cons:

Pros

  • Beautiful design with lots of intricate detail and beautiful, highly saturated colors
  • Attention to detail in every aspect
  • Ability to customize at no additional cost!!
  • pages of notes and dashboard to organize at the beginning of the month
  • Very Useful Pocket has the ability to hold alllll the things without breaking a sweat

Cons

  • Very expensive at regular price– $60+ to start with, and changing the spiral color costs extra
  • Spiral binding is rather large and mildly cumbersome
  • Bottom of weekly spreads performs not actual purpose and ends up getting in the way at times
  • Erin Condren’s reputation hasn’t been the best in the past year, but I’ll let you research that for yourself

My Latest Adventure: A Semester in Mexico City!!

Before we wrap up today’s post, I wanted to announce my latest adventure and the reason I bought this Erin Condren Spanish planner in the first place. I’m spending the semester studying abroad in Mexico City!! Unfortunately I haven’t actually arrived there in person yet, but classes officially start today, and I will be attending online until I can arrive in person. Here’s a look at my class schedule:

Clearly I am BEYOND EXCITED to finish my degree in Spanish and French in an actual Spanish-speaking country, seeing all the things I’ve been learning about the past ten years finally come to life. Since I’ve been away from my electronic devices most of the summer, this planner has been a lifesaver when it comes to organizing all the details and people to contact and forms to fill out. Stay tuned for more pictures of Mexico!!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this Erin Condren Spanish planner review. If you did, please feel free to check them out here (not sponsored, just a company I enjoy). They have many different planner options, including some that are a bit less expensive, and tons of stickers and beautiful pens as well. And let me know if you’d be interested in this style of planner!

Happy Monday!
