Hello, friends, and welcome to another Gratitude Documented 2022 post! Today’s prompt is Transformation, which immediately made me think of the awe-inspiring moment when Katniss transforms from a Capitol-enslaved bride to the Mockingjay who will lead her people to freedom. Enjoy!
The fandom: Katniss becoming the Mockingjay
Today’s Gratitude Documented prompt reminded me instantly of the literal transformation that Katniss undergoes as she becomes the Mockingjay – both instantaneously at the Catching Fire tribute interviews, and over time as she resists the Capitol’s schemes day by day. In the same way, as I understand more of what God wants and what the Enemy wants to destroy, I am empowered to choose to resist him and become more like the Christ-image I was created to be.
The study: transformation and renewal
I wrote another post about this topic over the summer that might ring a bell if you were a teenager in the early- to mid-2010s: Fall Out Boy – The Phoenix. I love the theme of transformation in all its forms, especially since to me they all point to this verse from Romans 12:
Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, [a]acceptable to God, which is your [b]spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this [c]world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may [d]prove what the will of God is, that which is good and [e]acceptable and perfect.

As I was studying, I also looked at Ephesians4:22-24, Psalm 51:12, and Titus 3-5.
