Saturday Shuffle #13: the one where the radio played some good tunes

Welcome back to another Saturday Shuffle from the Fangirl Fulfilled and Que lo Kayslee! This week I found some awesome new songs from several different decades, most of which came out the car radio. Hope you enjoy!

“Location” by Khalid

I think I heard this song on the radio on the way to Walmart, and I really enjoyed the sound of it. There’s a string-like effect which caught my attention initially, and it plays really well with the bass notes and electronic effects. Not to mention Khalid’s voice, which is wonderful. The sentiment is nice too, talking about getting to know someone in person instead of online. While he might mean more than I’d like him to mean, the hint is subtle enough to ignore for the sake of a good song.😜

“Clearly” by Grace VanderWaal

I love this song! It’s a remake of the classic “I Can See Clearly Now,” and she does it so well. Grace’s voice is the strong anthem-singing female type, and it combines with the choral background music and fast-tempo guitar to make an irresistibly sing-along-able song. She also adds little details to the lyrics that give them a modern twist, like “I accept all the things that I cannot change” from the Serenity Prayer, that I really appreciate. Excellent song for sure!

“Pennies From Heaven” by Frank Sinatra

Now we’ve swung all the way from modern pop to classic swing dancing music. Frank Sinatra’s voice is just beautiful, and the classic strings and trumpets and everything are so relaxing. This song is perfect to lift your mood, especially on a cold, gloomy day like we’re having right now (and will continue to have until mid-April at least).

“I’m ALIVE!” by Becca

Back to this century now with some early 2000s rock. Becca’s voice is another of the strong-female-lead types, but this time she’s rocking out to pounding drums and epic guitar solos. I especially enjoy the part where she mentions “reaching for Heaven” in the chorus. Another song that’s nigh impossible not to sing and/or headbang along toπŸ˜ŽπŸ‘©β€πŸŽ€

“I Won’t Give Up”

This song came out when I was in middle school, and I remember a friend of mine saying that it reminded her of her horse, who was sick at the time. It’s a sweet promise of faithfulness and hope, even in the midst of difficulty. A staple for any playlist, and a beautiful one too.

“Is That Okay?” by Social Club Misfits

This is easily one of my favorite groups in the Christian pop/rap/hip-hop genre, and I’m always excited when they come out with a new song. This one does not disappointed, with an exciting intro, piano and guitar, and the group’s amazing mix of singing and rap. The second half has their trademark Latino twist, with maracas and horns (at least I think that’s what they were 😹). “I know I’ll never be picture perfect, but can I be myself, is that okay?”

Thanks for taking the time to read this post, and I hope you found some new music to jam to. If you did, please do me a solid and share with all your peeps using the graphic below.

Happy Saturday!
