September is Suicide Prevention Month. Let’s end the stigma surrounding mental health disorders and create a safe space for healing and understanding. Join me on The Fangirl Fulfilled for resources on how to find hope or become a better ally to those who struggle, and for aesthetic inspiration on the topic of mental health awareness.
Suicide Prevention Month – My thoughts
Mental health awareness and suicide prevention are both very important to me. Although I haven’t been directly affected by suicide and mental health disorders, several people close to me have been. I have been the bystander for years and never realized that something was wrong. I am eternally grateful that someone was able to intervene on their behalf, and they are still here, but their struggle continues even to this day. And although my first instinct is to hide from it, pretend that everything is fine, although I don’t know how to navigate these types of conversations, I want to be a better ally. I want to be a person in their lives who is reliable, who will listen to them without judgement, who will be a safe place for them. Most importantly, I want to be someone who pours truth into their hearts and minds at every possible opportunity.
Plans for this month
Because of this, September will be a month focused on educating myself and spreading awareness of mental health issues. I will look for resources on how to find help and hope for those who struggle with suicidal ideation and mental health disorders, and for bystanders like me to become allies. Starting with an organization called Project Semicolon, which provides a wealth of easy-to-understand resources on understanding mental illness and how to help. You can find them here: https://projectsemicolon.com/
Each of this month’s Fandom posts will be focused on songs that I hope will be beacons of hope for anyone and everyone who struggles. It is my hope that each of these songs will help us to shine light on the areas of our own hearts that need light, while also “comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:4 CSB May this month be one of healing, hope, and equipping 💙
Bujo inspiration
For this month, I’m thinking of a combination of light and dark, hard and soft, solitude and companionship. Dark forests with the sun filtering through the branches. Water trickling over rocks and gnarled tree branches. Sunsets behind mountain crags. Sitting alone on the end of a pier, pondering life, the universe, and everything. Broken windows that let the light shine through. Watercolor softness juxtaposed with geometric designs. Here’s a bullet journal set up by Caitlin’s Corner on YouTube that inspired me with its simple, self care-focused theme.

New products available now!
One last thing: in support of Project Semicolon, I’ve created some new products on Redbubble with the semicolon logo. If I sell enough to pass the payment threshold (I currently have $11.36 to go), I will donate all of the proceeds from this and other designs to the foundation. You can also download the design for free on ko-fi; it makes a great lockscreen. Thanks in advance for your support!
