WWW Wednesday: Books with Dragons and Magic

Happy Wednesday friends! I’ve been wanting to join this tag for months now, and I finally decided that today was the day to do it. To go along with my How to Train Your Dragon bullet journal theme, I’ve been reading lots of books with dragons in them, and I’m loving it so far. Enjoy!

WWW Wednesday is a tag hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words and includes the following three questions:

  • What did you just finish reading?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • What will you read next?

Just finished: How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell

Since my theme this month is centered around this book/movie series, and my sister has been telling me to read the books for the longest time, I just had to start off my HTTYD reading month by reading this book. I knew going into it that the story would be different, and it is: Hiccup is 10 instead of a teenager, and his best friend is Fishlegs, who is as scrawny as he is and allergic to reptiles. I enjoyed this story; it was cute and funny, and I’m half convinced that I need to add Dragonese to my language-learning bucket list 🤓

Currently reading: The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

I checked this book out from the library after hearing a fellow book blogger describe it as “feminist Lord of the Rings,” and so far it hasn’t disappointed me. The world is beautiful and complex, with lots of different religions and cultures and two parallel storylines, East and West. Most of the main characters are female, and I’m intrigued by the idea of the Priory that the author keeps hinting at. One hundred pages in so far, can’t wait to keep reading!

TBR: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Once I finish the absolute behemoth that is The Priory of the Orange Tree, I’m looking forward to starting this series by Sarah J. Maas. I’ve looked into it a couple of times, but thought now is a good time to actually read it since it’s dragon month.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my first WWW Wednesday post! What books are you currently reading?

Happy fangirling!
