Lent 2023 Plans – Illustrated Faith and My Faith Book, plus a study in the Old Testament

Happy Sunday, friends, and welcome to this post! The season of Epiphany is almost over, which means that we’re about to enter the 40-day period of reflection and repentance known as Lent. This season is perhaps the most commonly celebrated among Protestant believers (other than Advent), and this year I’m choosing to observe it in a somewhat unique way. Hope you enjoy hearing about my Illustrated Faith Lent 2023 plans!

The Study: Jesus in the Old Testament

I purchased this study on clearance from Hobby Lobby this past summer and have been thinking about starting it ever since. The muted color scheme, with lots of neutrals and soft greens, screams Lent to me. I also love that it features all of the ways that Jesus shows up in what we know as the Old Testament, in everything from patterns to characters.

Creative Beauty: Illustrated Faith Lent 2023

I’ve been waiting for Illustrated Faith’s Lent 2023 to release for some time now, and as soon as it did, I knew it would be a good project for me. It’s called Call to Create, and features 40 cards with color and pattern on one side and devotional content on the other. The heart behind it is to follow the Creator’s call to create for 40 days, making beautiful and messy things for the glory of God. I’ve decided not to fully unwrap it until the first day of Lent, but here’s what the top card looks like:

Shanna Noel’s My Faith Book

I also picked up a thing called My Faith Book that Shanna Noel created a couple of years ago. It called to me after I flipped through my old Smash Book and remembered the joy of filling a book with random things “smashed” into the pages of a book with unique pages. I think I might use this book during Lent, but it may simply be an ongoing project throughout the year. Here’s a flip through:

Conclusion

I hope you’ve enjoyed and were inspired by today’s post. Do you celebrate Lent? How will you observe this season in 2023?

Happy journaling!
