Christmas is technically over now. Itâs time to pack up all the decorations and turn off the classic songs we all feel a mild hatred for at this point. But what about those of us who arenât quite ready to let go of that warm glowy Christmas feeling yet? Hereâs some of the best music for after Christmas Iâve found to ease the transition between Christmas and just plain winter. Enjoy!
âHappy Winter Songâ by Jinho, Hui
I found this song on a K-Pop Christmas playlist, and I canât tell you what itâs about (itâs in Korean), but it has a nice sound to it. Sort of a slow coffee shop style, with some soft guitar, drums, keyboard, and harmonizing vocals. And thereâs no way to tell for sure that itâs a Christmas song, unless you look up the translation of the lyrics!
âChristmas Dayâ by Johnnyswim
This song definitely has a Christmasy feel to it, but chances are you havenât been listening to it since October. It describes the warmth of the season in the beautiful harmonies and folksy style of Johnnyswim, then transitions into the âitâs not Christmas anymore but we still feel goodâ theme. Perfect to keep the good tidings⌠tiding? Idk đ
âGod With Usâ by Terrian
This song is absolutely beautiful, and I wish I had discovered it sooner! Terrianâs voice is powerful against a backdrop of piano and a hint of strings. Although she does mention Immanuel, the song in general sounds more like a ballad that could be sung all year round. Sort of reminds me of some of Lauren Daigleâs music, which is a very good thing âş
âWhite As Snowâ by Finding Favor
This is a remake of the hymn âJesus Paid It Allâ and Iâm loving the instrumentals! It has a nice electronic feel to it, with breathy male lead vocals floating over the top. A perfect bop to keep your spirits bright, even long after the holidays are over đ
âSing Mary Singâ by Jennifer Knapp
This song is super old (c. 2001), but itâs charm hasnât diminished. I enjoy Jennifer Knappâs twangy vocals and the early 2000s feel of the song as a whole. The lyrics also offer a unique perspective on Maryâs experience without conforming to the typical style of Christmas music. It almost sounds like a rock song! Definitely a good fit for getting away from holiday tunes while still reflecting on the message.
âMiraclesâ by Coldplay
Oh, this song is wonderful. Coldplay is quickly becoming one of my favorite groups, and I think this song will soon join this one (âArmy of Oneâ) on my list of fandom nuggets. It has a hopeful instrumental track and catchy beat, and the lyrics talk about following your dreams and dancing all night long. Very nice, and a perfect way to prepare for the new year. Thereâs even a rap interlude in the middle, which is quite nice đ
âTill the Season Comes Round Againâ by The Katinas
This song is similar to the classic âAuld Lang Syne,â but with a distinct style that sets it apart. It starts with an acoustic guitar line, then adds in the rest of the RnB style instrumentals, followed by a soloist and chorus of vocals. Charming for sure, like the benediction at the end of a church service. Perfect for the bittersweet feelings of the end of a holiday.
âNeverending Christmasâ by PEABOD
Thought itâd be nice to end this mixtape on a peppy note, and you canât go wrong with this song by PEABOD. The gist of the lyrics is that knowing Jesus, every day is a neverending Christmas, which is an excellent reminder for all year round, but especially right now. The music is a combination of super energetic pop and Christian hip hop, with a trumpet and drums combo that I canât help but dance to. So much fun!
Hope these songs have helped you come to terms with the fact that Christmas is over once again. If they did, please do me a solid and share with all your peeps using the graphic below. And let me know if there are any more songs I should listen to to transition from the holidays!
Happy Saturday!
