Happy Women’s Equality Day, friends, and welcome to a special Bible journal with me post! I was actually researching a different topic that’s been on my heart for a while, and ended up re-reading a blog post that I wrote a couple years ago. Turns out the Lord had some good things to say back then, and I decided to re-learn and reflect on that topic today. Hope you enjoy!

Happy Wednesday, friends, and welcome to another Word Nerd post! I’ve spent this summer working through several Bible journaling kits, including the “Currency of Grace” kit from BytheWell4God. It’s been so good! One of the things that stuck out to me this week is the phrase “ministry of reconciliation” from 2 Corinthians 5, and I thought I’d explore it a little more deeply with you today. And you can probably guess why I love it so much – the author is speaking my LANGUAGE and it’s awesome! Today, in celebration of the unofficial day of independence for the nation of France, I wanted to take you through the proces of journaling one of my favorite quotes from the devotional book. Word Nerd Wednesday – Elijah and the Still Small Voice

happy Wednesday, friends, and welcome to another Word Nerd post! This is the day where I like to fangirl over specific passages of Scripture that I’ve studied and that have spoken to me recently. I love the fandoms, but the word should always be first. This week I’ve been studying the book of 1 Kings, and I absolutely LOVED the story of Elijah and the “still small voice.” It’s SO GOOD!! ATLA four elements – solid rock

Happy Monday, friends, and welcome to a new series of faith-meets-fandoms blog posts! This month, I’m really enjoying reflecting and studying the four elements of the ATLA world, and I’m sharing my learning here. This week’s element is ATLA earthbending. Hope you enjoy!

ATLA waterbending – living water

This week’s installment focuses on ATLA waterbending and how it relates to who God is and who we are in Him. Hope you enjoy!

Good Friday 2023 – Restored.

Happy Good Friday, friends, and welcome to a new fandoms-as-Gospel post! I’ve been thinking about this one for months now, and I’m super excited to share it with you. More specifically, I’ve been thinking about Avatar: The Last Airbender and how Aang and his epic final battle with Fire Lord Ozai is sort of a picture of the triumph that Jesus Christ gained over Satan and his power on this day, roughly 2,023 years ago. Hope you enjoy!

Fandom: Avatar the Last Airbender, Aang’s final battle with Fire Lord Ozai

Verses: Romans 5:6-8, Philippians 2:5-11, Galatians 4:4-6, Colossians 2:13-15, Isaiah 53:12, John 1:1-5, 8:44, 1 Corinthians 15:54-57, 1 John 2:8, Ephesians 6:11-13, Romans 5:1-2, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Matthew 27:45-46, 1 Peter 3:18-20a, 1 John 3:7-8

Truth: Jesus is the suffering servant, sacrificial lamb, AND conquering King. He suffered and died for our sins, and in so doing, He crushed the power of Satan over the world and ended the war between us and God. He made it possible for us to return to the people we were meant to be, and He defeated (but didn’t eliminate) sin, Hell, and death. Someday, He will return to Earth, destroy the Enemy for good, and bring us into eternal and unhindered fellowship with Him forever. Amen!

Holy Week 2023 – Imagine Dragons Next to Me

Happy Holy Week, friends, and welcome to another fandoms-as-Gospel truth post from yours, truly. I keep coming back to this song, especially at this time of year. It speaks super powerfully to our need for a Savior and the fact that we have one who is willing to stay with us, no matter how many times we fail Him. Hope you enjoy Imagine Dragons Next to Me!

Fandom: “Ohhhh, I always let you down/ You’re shattered on the ground, still I find you there, next to me/ And ohhhh, stupid things I do/ I’m far from good, it’s true, still I find you next to me.” – Imagine Dragons “Next to Me”

Verses: Isaiah 64:4-6, Romans 8:38-39, Romans 3:22-24, Matthew 5:4, Romans 5:6-8

Truth: God sent His Son to rescue us when we were habitual sinners incapable of saving ourselves. When we commit ourselves to Him, He forgives us of all of our sins and promises that nothing can separate us from Him again.

Holy Week 2023 – For you. (Twenty One Pilots “Smithereens” lyrics)

Happy Holy Week, friends, and welcome to another post chez moi. This year, I’ve been thinking back to what I learned in previous Holy Week seasons, and I felt called to bring those things back out into the light. To start with, here’s a reflection on Twenty One Pilots’ “Smithereens” lyrics. In the spirit of the newly updated Fangirl: Fulfilled devotional journal, I’m going to show you how to use this song to share the Gospel with your fellow TOP fans, whether they believe in the Lord or not. Hope you enjoy!

Fandom: “For you, I’d go step to a dude much bigger than me/ For you, I know I would get messed up with 153/ For you, I would get beat to smithereens.” – Twenty One Pilots “Smithereens” lyrics

Verses: Romans 5:6-8, Mark 15:3-5, 12-15, 17-20, 24, 27-30, 33-34, 37

Truth: God proves His love for us by allowing His Son Jesus to suffer and die for us… and then to purchase our salvation.

Holy Week 2023 – A hundred lifetimes (Hunger Games quote)

Happy Holy Week, friends, and welcome to another fandoms as Gospel truth post! Today I’m remembering the adorable OTP that I love most of all (ssshhhh, don’t tell Percabeth), Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. I could literally write a novel about how much I love their story and how their love reminds me of God’s love for me. But I promise to try and keep this post to a reasonable length! I’m focusing today on the Hunger Games quote “You could live a hundred lifetimes and never deserve that boy.” Hope you enjoy!

Fandom: “You could live a hundred lifetimes and never deserve him, you know.” – Haymitch to Katniss, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Verses: Isaiah 50, 54:7-10, Ephesians 2:7-9, Jeremiah 31:1-3, Romans 5:6-8

Truth: Even though we don’t deserve it, God showers His love on us constantly. He calls us to stop trying to save ourselves and rely on Him for salvation instead.

Truth: Every breath that we take is a gift from God and a reminder of His goodness and His presence. He has power over life and death, both physically and spiritually, and wants to resurrect our spiritual selves through His Son.

Citizens – Everything and More (a Christian song?!)

Happy Monday, friends, and welcome to another fandom journaling post! I’ve always thought that the Fangirl: Fulfilled journal that I designed this past spring could be used for Christian songs and stories as well as secular ones, and today we’re going to explore this possibility. I’m journaling the verses and truth behind “Everything and More” by CCM group Citizens. Enjoy!

Fandom: “Deeper than deep, brighter than bright/ More than our words could ever do to describe/ Truer than true, purer than pure/ You’re everything, and still You are more…”

Verses: Psalm 145:3, Isaiah 40:25-26, Job 9:9-10, Ephesians 1:3-6, Psalm 8:3-5

Truth: God’s greatness has no limits, and that makes Him infinitely worthy of our worship.
