Romans Word Study Round-Up: Righteousness, Fulfillment, New Life

Hello, faithful friends! It’s time for a Word study round-up! If you don’t know what a word study is, allow me to explain. Because the Bible was written in different languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek), modern readers like us can benefit from studying it in its original language as well as our own. This usually means picking out one word or phrase that sticks out from the English (or Spanish, or French, or Italian, or Chinese, or Arabic…) text and looking up the original word in a concordance. This allows us to better understand the Bible in its original context… plus, it’s SUPER cool!!! See four (ish) examples of Romans Word study below, and new ones every Wednesday on my Instagram 🙂

This month’s devotional is called Mixtape (hence the title of this post), and its focus is replacing the negative thoughts in our heads with truth from God’s Word. So good! And so perfect for this year xD. This devotional also lines up so amazingly with the preface of this blog. So, without further ado, here are songs to remind you that you’re loved, inspired by week one of the Illustrated Faith Mixtape devotional. Enjoy!

Bible Journaling Techniques: 7 Places to Express Your Faith Creatively

At some point in the year 2014, a lady named Shauna Noel started a movement. Using a wide-margin Bible and craft supplies she already had, she documented the things she learned from Bible study, devotional time, and sermon notes in a creative way. Now, there are probably thousands of us out there, making beautiful things to celebrate victories, document truths, and worship the Lord, all in a creative way. This post shows you the most common places and techniques that people use in what is now called “Bible journaling.” See this video from Shauna Noel for more of what Bible journaling is all about :).

Word Nerd Wednesday: Zateo/Seek

Honesty will always be my policy here, so here’s an honest moment: when I opened my Bible tonight, I didn’t expect to spend hours studying and journaling. I started out with watercolor pencils in my read-the-Bible-for-the-simple-joy-of-reading-the-Bible Bible (Message Canvas Bible). YouTube was playing in the background, but not anything super “spiritual”, just a plan with me video I was already watching. I’ve had a long day today, so I gave myself permission to just use the beautiful illustrations on the first page of Romans to unwind and relax.
